It was ten years ago, in cartoon history, today on July 19th 2002: the show Whatever Happened to Robot Jones first came on the air on Cartoon Network. What I remember about the show was that it had a lot of 1980's references throughout the entire series, especially the animation style.

MY SUMMARY: SUMMED UP IN A FEW SHORT PARAGRAPHS: The show, which was created by Greg Miller, tells the main story of a little robot boy named Robot Jones who lived with his parental units and finds himself at Polyneux Middle School. During his time, he met three friends: Socks (Robot's BFF), Mitch (wears headphones), and Cubey (a kid who wears window-shade glasses and plays video games). Robot even developed a crush on a girl named Shannon, who was known for her headgear and an artificial leg. The Yogman Twins, however, are Robot's enemies. Throughout most of the series, Robot collects data on certain topics we all know about on a regular basis and usually concludes with a "Data Log Entry".

The pilot episode debuted in 2000, but the series debuted two years later. In a span of only a year and a half since it aired a decade ago, the show produced only 13 episodes, (2 episodes making them 27 overall) due to the fact that Robot's voice was changed, and lack of support from the network, mainly due to scathing reviews from fans at the time. In November 2003, as a result of the issues above, the show got the axe after being unable to secure a third season. February 2004 was the last time the show aired on a regular basis, although subsequent years up to 2010, showed CN airing the episodes sporadically since. In fact, many of us can find the episodes circulating all across the internet in the eight years since the show went off the air.

Looking back ten years later, many of us fans have missed the show for its style, and to a lesser-extent, the humor. Some of us on here have created fan drawings of the characters from the show while others have recordings of the show on VHS tapes.

Robot Jones, we fans salute you!

Robot's voice should of never changed. Maybe the show would of had more episodes because of that. At least he's continued on in fan art and writing.
